Venture Capital and Private Equity
Fund Consulting
Since 2001, venture and private equity managers have called upon IPS to assist and manage projects that require deep expertise, ability and commitment.
We are often called upon to review the work of client personnel and outside administrators to ensure the accuracy and completeness of their day to day work. Additionally, IPS substitutes for personnel or aids them in performing tasks. We also aid clients with the discovery and implementation of process improvements.
Some examples of consulting services that IPS has provided to venture and private equity funds are as follows:
The Chief Financial Officer of a venture firm needed to focus on portfolio company and limited partner matters and had less time for accounting. IPS was hired to aid the CFO in closing the funds’ quarterly books and producing quarterly account and financial statements. IPS also aided the CFO in managing the audit and tax process with the firm’s audit and tax firm at year-end.
A private equity firm decided to hire a large administrator to handle their books and records, but did not feel comfortable that all of its funds’ were being accounted for properly. The firm hired IPS to review the quarterly financial and account statements produced by the large administrator.
A large venture firm was uncomfortable with the performance reported by its previous accountant. IPS reviewed all of the raw data and compared it to audited financial statements, made some corrections and recalculated the performance for the manager.
